WHAT IS BODY FAT
Understanding Body Fat:
• Our human body is made for survival, it never likes wasting it's precious resources.
• So, whe
never we eat more calories than our body requires, then our body stores these extra calories as fat for future use.
• This stored fat can be used by our body, when our body don't have enough food to provide the energy it requires.
• "Adipose Tissue" is the scientific term for body fat.
Why Body Fat is Essential:
• Body fat serves several important functions in our human body.
• While excess body fat can be harmful for our health, but some level of body fat is necessary for various physiological processes in our body.
• These physiological processes include:
(i) Energy Storage
(ii) Organ Protection
(iii) Hormone Regulation
(iv) Regulating Glucose and Cholesterol, Etc.
• Common sources of carbohydrates include: grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and sugars.
Types Of Body Fat:
• There are many types of body fat, but "Subcutaneous Fat" and "Visceral Fat" are two main types of body fat.
• Subcutaneous fat refers to the fat which is stored under our skin.
• The majority of our body fat is subcutaneous. It’s the fat that you can squeeze or pinch on your arms, belly, thighs, and buttocks.
• Visceral fat is stored in your abdominal cavity and it is present around all of your major organs, such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, intestines, and heart.
• Visceral fat is the fat which helps our body protect our organs.
How You Can Lose Body Fat:
• If you want to lose body fat, then you have to stay "Calorie Deficit".
• You also have to understand that spot reduction of body fat is a myth, and you cannot just lose fat specifically from a body part.
