DIFFERENT WAYS OF MEASURING BODY FAT PERCENTAGE

Well, now a days there are a lot of ways to get your body fat percentage measured. Some are less accurate, some are more accurate, some ways are less expensive and easily accessible to the general public and some are very expensive and hard to access.


So, let's see some well known ways of measuring body fat percentage:

1. Skinfold Calipers:

    (i) This method involves using calipers to pinch and measure skinfold thickness at specific locations on the body.

    (ii) This method has "Moderate Accuracy", results can vary based on the skill of the person performing the measurements, but it is "Relatively Inexpensive".



2. Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA):

    (i) BIA measures the impedance (resistance) of electrical flow through the body.
    (ii) This method is also Moderately accurate, because hydration and recent food intake can affect results.
    (iii) This method is "Quick and Widely Available".



3. 3D Body Scanners:

    (i) These scanners create a 3D image of the body to estimate any person's body fat percentage.
    (ii) This method is also "Quick and has Moderate Accuracy".



4. Hydrostatic Weighing (Underwater Weighing):

    (i) This method measures body density by weighing an individual underwater.
    (ii) This method is "Highly Accurate".
    (iii) But it is "Not easily accessible".



5. Air Displacement Plethysmography (Bod Pod):

    (i) This method measures body density by assessing air displacement in a closed chamber.
    (ii) This method is also "Highly accurate", but it is expensive.
    (iii) And it is more comfortable than underwater weighing.




How You can Lose Body Fat:

  •   If you want to lose body fat, then you have to stay "Calorie Deficit".
  •   You also have to understand that spot reduction of body fat is a myth, and you cannot just lose fat specifically from a body part.
